CalcEI is a personal finance app. It is built local-first: your transactions, budgets, savings goals, and categories stay on your device. This policy explains the small amount of data that does leave your device, and why.
Everything you enter into the app (transactions, amounts, notes, categories, budgets, savings goals, payment methods, PIN and biometric lock settings) is stored only on your device. We do not have a copy and cannot see it. Receipt photos you scan are used only to extract the details and are not saved by the app. Backups you export are files you create and store where you choose; they are not sent to us. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes this local data.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| A random device ID (generated by the app, not linked to your hardware identifiers, name, or contacts) | To issue an access token to our server and count free-trial and monthly fair-use usage of the AI features. |
| Usage counters for AI features (how many times each has been used), and your subscription's Google Play purchase token and expiry date | To enforce the free trial and fair-use limits, and to unlock features for subscribers. |
| Your Google account ID and email address, only if you sign in with Google | Sign-in is required only to subscribe, so your subscription can be attached to your Google account and restored on other devices. The app is fully usable without signing in. |
| Your IP address, in technical server logs | Security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. Logs are kept for a limited time (see section 6). |
| Technical details when the app crashes (the error message, where in the code it happened, your device's platform, and app version — never your financial data or anything that identifies you) | To find and fix bugs that make the app crash or behave incorrectly. |
We do not use advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising. When the app crashes, the technical details described above are sent to our own server, not to any third party, so we can diagnose and fix the problem.
Some features send data from your device through our server to Google's Gemini API to produce a result. This happens only when you use the feature:
Our server forwards these requests to Gemini and returns the result to you. We do not store the content of these requests or Gemini's responses on our server. Google processes this content under its Gemini API terms for paid services, under which Google states it does not use prompts or responses to improve its products, and retains them for a limited period solely for abuse and legal-compliance purposes. Please avoid including information in notes or receipts that you would not want processed this way.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play. We never see your payment card or payment details. After you subscribe, the app sends a purchase token to our server, which verifies it with Google Play and stores that purchase token and the resulting subscription expiry date against your account, so we can confirm renewals with Google.
Data in transit between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS), and our database backups are encrypted before they leave our server. Access to the server is restricted, and Google purchase verification uses a least-privilege, read-only service account. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is little to lose.
CalcEI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to processing. Contact us at ikhsanyudhaap@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
